A 38-year-old man faces felony charges after shots were fired during a domestic incident in Love Valley.
Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Ronda resident Randy Wayne Dowell in a news release on Tuesday.
ICSO deputies responded to 553 Bacon Road about 9:09 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a report about shots being fired, Campbell said. A short time later a second call was received in reference to an armed man who was intoxicated walking around in Jolly’s Campground.
When patrol deputies arrived, several witnesses told them where the suspect’s truck and trailer was, according to the news release.
Deputies Kevin Sherard and Justin Roberts and Lt. Dwayne Christian quickly located and detained Dowell, Campbell said.
Once Dowell was detained, the deputies conducted interviews with witnesses who stated this incident started out as a domestic argument between Dowell and a female. Witnesses said the suspect fired his weapon three times, Campbell said.
During a search of the suspect’s vehicle and trailer, deputies located a pistol hidden under a mattress in the trailer, according to the news release.
Based on the statements and evidence gathered, Dowell was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and two counts of going armed to the terror of the public.
Dowell appeared before Magistrate Watkins, who issued a $15,000 secure bond on these charges.
