Two suspects face drug trafficking charges after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies seized heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and cash following a traffic stop on Interstate 77.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Pittsburgh, Pa., residents Whitney Brooks Fennell, 37, and Breanna Lorraine Delany, 22, in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies assigned to the ICSO Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu traveling south on I-77 on Friday, December 11, Campbell said.

After speaking with Delany, who was driving, the deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle and found 162.9 grams of heroin, 5.5 grams of crack cocaine, 18.1 grams of marijuana, and $1,125.

Delany and Fennell were arrested on scene and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where each was charged with: Felony Trafficking Heroin by Possession, Felony Trafficking Heroin by Transportation, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance (Heroin), Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Felony Maintaining a Dwelling or Vehicle for Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.

Magistrate Chambers issued Delany a $500,000 secured bond. Fennell’s bond was set at $600,000.
