Iredell County reached a grim milestone Tuesday as the number of COVID-19 deaths in the county surpassed 100.
Local health officials reported five more new deaths on Tuesday — on the heels of the six reported on Monday, increasing the death toll to 101 since the pandemic began in March.
There have been 29 deaths reported so far during December.
The Iredell County Health Department does not release personal information about COVID-19 patients, including those who pass away.
According to the latest report, there have now been 8,401 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iredell County, which includes the 255 new cases reported Monday and 71 on Tuesday.
Sixty people who have tested positive are currently hospitalized in Iredell.
The Health Department has stopped reporting the number of cases in the north, south and central regions of the county, and is no longer reporting the number of COVID-19 patients isolating at home.
