FROM STAFF REPORTS
An assistant principal at Coddle Creek Elementary School has been suspended by Iredell-Statesville Schools following his arrest on a felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor charge.
Shaun Michael Bock was arrested on Wednesday after Mooresville police officers executed search warrants at his residence and the school, according to a Mooresville Police Department news release.
The MPD Criminal Investigations Unit began investigating on January 26 after receiving a report in reference to a suspected sexual exploitation of a minor by an adult, according to the news release. After conducting interviews with witnesses, detectives identified Bock as the suspect, police said.
Following his arrest, Bock was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Watkins issued a $10,000 secured bond.
Bock, who was hired as principal at Coddle Creek Elementary in July of 2020, was suspended by the district on Wednesday.
The minor involved in the case is not an Iredell-Statesville Schools student, district officials said.
I-SS Superintendent Jeff James said the district is cooperating with the MPD to ensure the matter is thoroughly investigated.
“Our children are our most precious asset,” James said. “Our job is to protect our children at all cost.”
