City of Statesville announces closings for New Year’s Holiday

Statesville City offices will be closed on Friday, December 31, in recognition of the New Year’s Holiday.

Garbage Collection

There will be no garbage collection on December 31.

♦ Residential Routes: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday routes will operate on a regular schedule. Thursday and Friday routes will run on Thursday.

♦ Commercial Routes: No changes for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday routes. Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday. Saturday’s route will operate on a regular schedule.

Fitness & Activity Center

The Fitness and Activity Schedule will be open on December 31 from 5:30 a.m. and close early at 5 p.m. The SFAC will operate on regular Saturday hours on January 1 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

ABC Stores

The ABC Stores will close at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and will be closed on New Year’s Day.

    Would like to know when leaves will be picked up on Wood Street and East Front Street. We have them covering the sidewalks and kids walking to school are walking in the streets to avoid the piles. We have piled them for several months now and they keep blowing back into our yards or the streets.
    Also, on Wood Street (800 block) there are two large piles of limbs. Could they be picked up soon also?
