The EnergyUnited Foundation recently donated $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region to provide support for the organization’s Critical Home Repair program.
“This donation will help fund significant home repairs at a reduced rate, improving substandard housing conditions for those with limited financial resources,” said Michelle Magee, private grants manager.
Habitat Charlotte Region brings people together from Pineville to Statesville to build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Habitat Charlotte Region has served 2,000-plus families with affordable housing since 1983.
The EnergyUnited Foundation supports many nonprofit organizations across its 19-county service area that provide critical assistance for those who are experiencing poor housing conditions. This effort supports the cooperative’s goal to deliver a brighter future for its communities.
“Everyone deserves a safe, habitable space,” said EnergyUnited Foundation Administrator Debra Citta. “We are thankful that Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region is doing everything possible to provide this assurance to individuals and families in need.”
The EnergyUnited Foundation is a voluntary, member-funded nonprofit organization supported by EnergyUnited’s Operation Round-Up program. Nearly 90,000 EnergyUnited members choose to participate in the program by ‘rounding up’ their electric bills each month. The maximum monthly contribution for an individual member with one account is 99 cents. Each of these small contributions are pooled together in a single fund managed by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support needy individuals, families, and essential nonprofit organizations that complete an application explaining the reason and purpose for their requested grant.
