FROM STAFF REPORTS
More than 600 Iredell-Statesville Schools students who were potentially exposed to COVID-19 last week did not have to quarantine because they were wearing a face mask, according to the district’s latest report.
Although 213 students were forced to quarantine because of close contact with someone in school who tested positive during the week of September 24-30, 656 other students did not have to quarantine because they masked.
Nearly one month after the I-SS Board of Education voted to require students and staff members to wear face masks, the number of positive cases and quarantines reported by the district continues to decline.
More than 1,000 students were required to quarantine or isolate due to close contact or because they exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 during the reporting period.
