Everyone deserves the chance to blow out the candles and celebrate their birthday with a cake.

That’s the idea behind Iredell County 4-H’s Birthday Cake Drive benefiting Iredell Christian Ministries in May.

“We are putting together birthday cake kits to help our community celebrate their and their loved ones’ birthdays,” explained Taylor Jenkins, Iredell County 4-H agent.

Iredell 4-H is asking the community to lend a helping hand. They are in need of the following items to put together the kits:

● Boxed cake mix
● Frosting
● Oil (canola or vegetable)
● Disposable cake pans (9×13 or two 6-inch or 7-inch round)
● Birthday candles

According to Taylor, you can give a whole set, or pick and choose individual items. All donations are due to the Iredell County Cooperative Extension Office (444 Bristol Drive, Statesville) by May 28.

All of the kits will be donated to Iredell Christian Ministries, which has a food pantry for families in need.

Organizers thank the community in advance for their generosity.
