As students and their families prepare to return to school, the Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department is excited to offer end of summer programming this weekend.
On Friday, August 20, from 1 to 3 p.m., Back to School Splash will be held at the Recreation Center Pool (122 Grannis Lane, Statesville). This event is free for anyone at the pool, day pass rate still applies. Join us for fun activities like poolside bingo, cannonball contests, family trivia, and more! Day passes to the pool will be $1 off in celebration. This event will mark the last weekday our community pool is open this year before moving into our weekend-only schedule. Also on Friday, August 20, the final Family Movie on the Lawn of the summer will be held on the Recreation Center multi-purpose field. Moana (PG) will be shown at dusk. Families are welcome to come out and set up chairs and blankets starting at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature a free bounce house for all attendees. $5 tickets include a bag of popcorn. Saturday, August 21, at Jennings Park (141 Deitz Road, Statesville) try out the zip line and ropes challenge course at our Outdoor Education Center Open House. The course will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 12 noon for $15 a person. Per manufacturer’s recommendations, all participants must be between 75 and 250 pounds to participate in climbing activities. Advance registration and
