A Mooresville man faces multiple felony charges following a child pornography investigation conducted by the Mooresville Police Department.
MPD began an investigation in peer-to-peer uploads of child pornography in the Mooresville area. With the assistance of detectives from the Boone Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, investigators identified Mark Joseph Laporte, 36, of Mooresville as a suspect.
Detectives and agents executed a search warrant at Laporte’s residence on Thursday, February 18, and located and seized evidence in relation to the sexual exploitation of minors.
Laporte was arrested and charged with six counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Tutterow issued a $300,000 secured bond.
