MPD: Troutman Middle School teacher faces sexual exploitation of a minor charge after soliciting nude photos of teen

A Troutman Middle School teacher was charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor following an investigation by the Mooresville Police Department.

Kyle Christopher McKay, 36, of Mooresville was arrested by detectives on July 23, according to an MPD news release.

This arrest followed an investigation after a 15-year-old female reported that McKay solicited nude photos of her through SnapChat, police said.

McKay was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was given a $100,000 secured bond.

Iredell-Statesville Schools officials announced Tuesday afternoon that McKay was suspended with pay following his arrest. He has been employed as teacher at Troutman Middle School since August of 2015.

No student within the Iredell-Statesville Schools was involved with this case, I-SS officials said.
