A Mooresville man faces a drug trafficking charge after the Town of Mooresville’s license plate reader alerted Mooresville police officers that a stolen vehicle was in the area.
Airyck Brown, 31, was arrested on Thursday, according to an MPD news release.
Brown rented a Mitsubishi Outlander from Avis Rental in December and did not return it, according to police. The vehicle was entered into a database as stolen.
After receiving the alert about the stolen vehicle, MPD officers located the vehicle near JC Circle and arrested Brown, who was driving, according to the news release.
Brown was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, trafficking in Schedule I controlled substances (ecstasy), possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for drugs, and a misdemeanor drug offense.
Brown was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was issued a $100,000 bond.
