Starting Saturday, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a city road in Statesville for one year as part of the Interstate 40 and Interstate 77 interchange improvement project.
Beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, Beechwood Road will be closed at the intersection of East Broad Street to allow NCDOT contractors to begin construction on the East Broad Street bridge over I-77. The existing traffic pattern on East Broad Street will be narrowed to three lanes.
Motorists using Beechwood Road should use Valley Stream Road and Brierwood Road to access East Broad Street.
Motorists should plan for delays while using detours and use caution while approaching the work zone.
