FROM STAFF REPORTS
A convicted sex offender faces nearly two dozen felony charges following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
The ICSO began investigating in April after receiving a report concerning an individual being in possession of child pornography, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release. The case was assigned to Detective Cody James of the ICSO Special Victims Unit.
Detective James conducted interviews with persons connected to the case and executed several search warrants on various internet providers and social media outlets, according to the news release.
As a result of this investigation, Isaiah David Musto, 33, of Samara Lane, Mooresville, was identified as the suspect in this case, Campbell said.
Musto was found guilty of felony soliciting a child by computer in 2020.
Based on the evidence gathered in this matter, Musto was charged with one count of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 20 felony counts of sex offender failing to register online identifier.
Musto was arrested on Monday, May 17. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was served with the 21 felony charges. Magistrate Imes ordered that he be held without bond.
The investigation is ongoing, Campbell said.
