A 28-year-old man faces two felony sex offense charges following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Curtis Griffin

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Curtis Dale Griffin, 28, in a news release Monday.

The ICSO began investigating in July after receiving a report about a child being sexually assaulted in northern Iredell between January of 2018 and August of 2019, Campbell said. The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant Katie Campbell of the Special Victims Unit.

The child in this investigation was interviewed at the Iredell County Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center. During the interview, the victim reported being sexually assaulted by Griffin, according to the news release.

Based on all of the evidence gathered during the investigation Detective Sergeant Campbell charged Griffin with two counts of felony statutory sex offense.

During this investigation, Campbell also discovered evidence showing Griffin had violated a Pretrial Release Order on June 29, 2021. This Pretrial Release Order was issued as the result of a Domestic Violence Assault charge. The victim of this assault was not the child victim.

Griffin was arrested on Wednesday, July 28, and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. He appeared before Magistrate Callejas who issued a $250,000 secure bond for the two counts of felony statutory sex offense and an additional $15,000 secure bond for violating the Domestic Violence Pretrial Release Order.
