FROM STAFF REPORTS
Last spring Iredell County Sheriff’s Office personnel seized drugs and firearms from a home at 306 Garfield Street in Statesville and arrested four suspects.
On Tuesday ICSO Narcotics Unit investigators and members of the Special Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant, seized illegal drugs and arrested two of the suspects again.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Dominic Antwan Diggs, 36, and Djuan Tyrell Sanchez White, 36, in a news release.
Narcotics investigators began the latest investigation after receiving information that Diggs was distributing narcotics from the home, Campbell said. Investigators conducted surveillance operations and then purchased narcotics from Diggs at the residence, according to the news release.
During Tuesday’s search of the Garfield Street residence, ICSO personnel seized a small amount of marijuana along with 109 dosage units of what investigators said appeared to be Xanax, a schedule IV controlled substance, which was packaged for distribution, Campbell said. The pills will be lab tested to determine if they contain any other controlled substances.
Diggs was arrested and charged with one count of felony possession with intent to sell/distribute a schedule IV controlled substance, one count of felony maintaining a dwelling/place for controlled substance and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $25,000 secured bond by Magistrate Chambers.
White was arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor maintaining a dwelling or place for controlled substance. He was issued a $10,000.00 secured bond by Magistrate Chambers.
Charges from the suspects’ May 15, 2021, arrest are still pending, according to the ICSO.
That investigation involved the seizure of marijuana, crack cocaine, prescription pills and MDMA, along with a handgun and a sawed-off shotgun.
Proven again. They are given bond, they make bond and are back on the streets to sell again and everyone wonders how we are going to clean up this town.
I can tell you a good start is to keep these people locked up so they are not on the streets selling drugs, or committing other crimes.
