The Statesville Planning Department has announced that the timeframe for approval of the proposed 2045 Land Development Plan has been extended to give staff an opportunity to address the concerns and comments raised by the public thus far in the process.
The draft of the plan can be viewed at www.statesvillenc.net/ldp.
Any changes to the draft plan will be made available to the public on the City’s website. The Planning Board will continue its review of the draft plan at its January 25, 2022 meeting. Its recommendation and the plan will be presented to City Council on February 7, 2022. A public hearing is also scheduled for that meeting.
Adoption of the plan is set for February 21, 2022.
The Land Development Plan process began in Spring 2020, with a charge to update the current plan which dates back to 2004. In September 2020, a public workshop was held at the Civic Center to get input on how the community would like the City to grow. A website was initiated at this time – www.statesvillenc.net/ldp — so that the public could keep up with the work as it progressed.
Guiding the process has been a nine-member team, made up of representatives from the City Council and Planning Board, Iredell Economic Development Corp, Iredell-Statesville Schools, Chamber of Commerce and the development community.
Assisting the team is the consulting firm Clarion Associates, in conjunction with Rose & Associates Southeast Inc.
