Tilley’s Dance Academy’s dance company members recently attended the Showstopper National Competition in Myrtle Beach, S.C. While there, the students attended workshop classes for two days as well as competed in various categories, including jazz, tap, hip hop and lyrical and earned multiple Platinum and Double Platinum awards for their performances.
Several Tilley’s Dance Academy groups, solos and duets also received overall High Score Awards. The National High Score award winners are listed below:
♦ Bella Brookshire and Pressley Anne Beatty received a 1st Place Overall High Score Award for their duet, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”
♦ Zayla Lescano received a top-10 Overall high score for her solo, “Beautiful People”
♦ The Junior Company received 4th Place Overall for their jazz dance, “Rain on Me”
♦ Junior Hip Hop received 2nd Place Overall for their routine, “Fighter”
♦ Petite Company received a 6th Place Overall for the jazz dance, “Black or White”
♦ The Rising Star Hip Hop received 7th Place Overall for their routine, “Lip Gloss Mix”
♦ Rising Star Lyrical received 8th Place Overall for “We are the World”
♦ Senior Lyrical received 4th Place Overall for their routine, “I Can Hear Crying”
♦ The Senior Company received 2nd Place Overall for their jazz dance, “I Love Rock N Roll” and a 1st Overall High Score Award for their tap dance, “What a Man’s Gotta Do”
♦ Senior Hip Hop also received a 1st Place Overall High Score award for their routine, “Beggin'”
♦ Hazel Toothaker received 5th Place Overall High Score for her solo, “Locomotion”
♦ Pressley Anne Beatty received a 3rd Place Overall for her solo, “Where is the Love”
♦ The Mini Company received 1st Place Overall High Score for their jazz dance, “Trolls Just Wanna Have Fun”
This event took place June 28-July 3. Tilley’s students competed with dance studios from all over the Southeast.
“It was very rewarding to see our dancers hard work pay off at the final event of our dance year. To compete at a National level and win so many awards was very exciting! We are so extremely proud of all our dancers!”
