Description of Services Provided: Helping children and families cope with illness and grief by providing extraordinary care and support at home, in schools, and throughout our community. To achieve this mission, Rainbow Kidz provides in-school counseling free of charge at schools across Iredell County. Our licensed counselors also provide individual counseling for children not attending a school currently served by the program, or those who have needs that exceed the group sessions. Rainbow Kidz counselors also provide crisis counseling, as was seen at the Boys & Girls Club following the recent death of 8-year-old Ah’Miyahh.

What role do volunteers play in your agency? Volunteers are a big part of Rainbow Kidz, especially at Camp Rainbow in the summer, the holiday gathering in the winter and the Ride & Run in the spring. Our volunteers share their time and compassion with our students, and make a real impact on their healing. Often, volunteers have their own grief journeys, and those experiences help them relate to the children we serve.
