The Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education recognized community members and parents Beth Packman and Jennifer Christian during the board’s October 10 meeting for their support, service and time volunteered to the district.
Board member Martin Page said that when he was sworn into office eight and a half years ago that everywhere he went he ran into Packman and Christian.
“I can’t think of anybody really that has volunteered and put as much time and effort into our children as these two,” Page said.
Both women were instrumental in helping pass the school bonds in 2014 and 2020. They both volunteer with Crosby Scholars and help raise awareness about challenges facing the district.
“We cannot give either one of your worth in what you’ve done,” Page said. “It’s been a pleasure to get to know y’all and see the work you do. We just need to clone you.”
“It just shows what people can do for the school system when you get out and volunteer,” he added.
Christian, the chairperson of the I-SS facilities task force, appreciated the recognition.
“It’s very kind, but it’s a community effort. I know that there’s a lot of people in this room who care very much about our students.”
The two received a round of applause and standing ovation from the entire board.
So deserving of the recognition!! Thank you to both ladies for their tireless service to our children!!
It is fantastic these two outstanding citizens were recognized for their selfless service to our community.
Some only “talk the talk,” while others like Jennifer and Beth “walk the walk.” They were and are in the arena as described by Teddy Roosevelt.
Congratulations!
