Adult Programs
Using Newspapers for Genealogy Research

October 6, 6 p.m.
Details: To celebrate National Newspaper Week, we are learning about the history of newspapers in North Carolina, their impact on society, and how to use their information in genealogy research.
A Look Through History

October 13, 2 p.m.
Details: Join us for a drop-in event featuring historical memorabilia and a short historical talk with local author Billie-Fae Gill. No registration is required for this program.
Live Music: Steve Bonham & Rob McHale

October 15, 2 p.m.
Details: Join us for an entertaining afternoon of music and storytelling with Steve Bonham and Rob McHale. Creator of over ten albums, two musicals, and several books, Steve is bringing his perspectives and guitar to America to present a joint concert with North Carolina songwriter Rob McHale.
“Historic Shallow Ford”

Details: Local author and historian Marcia Phillips will be discussing the Iredell highlights of her latest book, Historic Shallow Ford in Yadkin Valley: Crossroads Between East and West, with specific focus on the Houstonville area.

Preschool Storytime

Details: This storytime focuses on early literacy practices for children ages 36 to 60 months and kindergarten readiness skills. We will share stories, songs and activities that allow young children to practice school readiness and early reading skills.
Toddler Storytime
♦ Statesville: Thursdays, 10 a.m.
♦ Troutman: Tuesdays, 11 a.m.
Details: This storytime focuses on early literacy practices appropriate for children ages 18 to 36 months and their adult caregivers. We will share stories, songs, and activities that help young children build pre-reading skills and encourage caregivers to support early learning.
Family Book Club
♦ Troutman: October 25, 5 p.m.
♦ Statesville: October 27, 6 p.m.
Details: Join us this October for our first ever Family Book Club! Families can register and collect their copies of “How to Steal a Dog” at the Youth Services desk at the Statesville branch, and are encouraged to read together. The meeting will include family trivia, book discussion, and a pizza party. Register & collect your book at the Statesville or Troutman library.
