Six more deaths in Iredell County have been attributed to COVID-19 since Monday afternoon.
According to the Iredell County Health Department, the county’s COVID-19 death toll since the onset of the pandemic in March of 2020 now stands at 389. Local health officials do not release information on COVID-19 patients, including those who have passed away.
With the addition of 310 new laboratory confirmed cases on Thursday, there have been a total of 43,883 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iredell during the past 23 months.
Eighty-eight people who have tested positive are now hospitalized the county, including 77 Iredell residents.
The county remains a high-transmission area, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with a seven-day positivity rate of 41.78 percent.
According to the CDC, 53.9 percent of the population ages 5 and up in Iredell County are fully vaccinated. Only 21.8 percent of the population over the age of 18 has received a booster shot.
