The Iredell County Health Department reported five deaths attributed to COVID-19 during the past week.

Since the onset of the pandemic, a total of 438 people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Iredell have lost their lives. Local health officials do not release personal information about COVID-19 patients, including those who die.

The number of new laboratory-confirmed cases continues to drop. Only 171 new cases were reported in Iredell in the past week, increasing to 47,917 the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began.

Sixteen people who have tested positive for COVID-19 were hospitalized across the county on Friday, down slightly from 19 a week ago.
