Mooresville police have determined that a shooting that occurred on Lark Glen Drive on Thursday evening was an accident.

MPD officers, Mooresville Fire-Rescue personnel and Iredell County EMS were dispatched to a residence for a shooting around 9 p.m.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they learned an individual who suffered a gunshot wound had already been transported to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center by private vehicle.

During the ensuing investigation, the MPD determined the individual was shot accidentally while cleaning a firearm, police said.

The individual’s injuries were non-life-threatening.

No additional information was released Friday morning.
