The Mooresville Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday evening on West Iredell Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of the crash in the 300 block of West Iredell Avenue near the intersection of North Academy Street about 7:11 p.m. Tuesday, according to an MPD news release.

After arriving on scene, officers discovered that a motorcycle and a truck had collided.

A passenger on the motorcycle — identified as 44-year-old Theescha Renea Proctor of Mooresville — was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained during the crash, police said.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained during the crash. The driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries requiring treatment.

MPD was assisted at the scene of this accident by Mooresville Fire-Rescue and Iredell County EMS personnel.

Officers assigned to the MPD Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate the accident. The investigation is still ongoing.
