Two men face charges in connection with a pair of fatal crashes following investigations by the Mooresville Police Department
Both drivers were charged by MPD officers on Saturday, November 26, by traffic officers for their involvement in crashes in October, according to an MPD news release.
Traffic officers conducted extensive investigations into both crashes and consulted with the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office to ensure the appropriate charges were filed in both cases.
Timber Road Traffic Crash
On October 20, Stephen Andrew Schriver of Mooresville was driving a 2015 Ford Mustang on Timber Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the path of a Dodge truck, police said.
Ryan Joseph Rich of Mooresville, a passenger in Schriver’s vehicle, died from injuries he sustained in the crash, according to the news release.
Schriver was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and careless and reckless driving. He was placed in the Iredell County Jail under a $10,000 secured bound, which he posted and was released from custody.
Iredell Avenue Traffic Crash
On October 25, Joshua Waybon Ryan Loftis of Mooresville was driving a 1993 Ford truck on Iredell Avenue when it struck the rear of a motorcycle that was stopped in the roadway waiting to turn into the driveway of a residence, police said.
Theescha Renea Proctor of Mooresville, a passenger on the motorcycle, died as a result of the crash, according to the news release. The driver of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries in the accident but survived, police said.
Loftis was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. He was placed in the Iredell County Jail under a $5,000 secured bound, which he posted and was released from custody.
