Raleigh — North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore has appointed Michael H. Johnson, CEO of The Johnson Group Inc., to the North Carolina Ports Authority.
The Ports Authority operates facilities in Wilmington, Morehead City and the Inland Port in Charlotte. Freight movement is an integral part of the North Carolina economy and economic development strategy.
Johnson is a principal at The Johnson Group Realty, Inc. and Magnolia Homes, Inc. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate development and construction. Throughout his career, he has worked on a number of residential, commercial and industrial development projects in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Johnson and his wife Anita live in Statesville.
He has previously served on several local and regional boards, including mayor pro tempore of Statesville, chairman of the Iredell County Board of Adjustment, chairman of the Lake Norman Regional Planning Organization, chairman of the Centralina Council of Governments, secretary of the N.C. Association of Regional Councils of Government, and chairman of the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization.
