Sheriff: Suspect charged with armed robbery after ICSO investigation

A Cleveland man was charges in connection with an armed robbery of a business on Old Mountain Road near Statesville.

Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Darren Eugene Parker, 51, on Facebook on Monday. 

Parker is charged with robbing an employee of a business at 2159 Old Mountain Road about 8 p.m. Sunday. The employee was assaulted during the robbery, according to the ICSO.

Based on information received overnight, ICSO investigators obtained warrants charging Parker with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault.

The suspect was taken into custody in Mecklenburg County Monday morning by the ICSO Warrant Squad Deputies and members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. 

“We want to thank the community members who reached out to us with information to assist in making the suspect identification possible,” Campbell said.
