A Harmony man faces two misdemeanor charges in connection with a head-on collision in Statesville that claimed two lives last week.
Labryant Tremaine Nichols, 29, has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by vehicle following an investigation by the Statesville Police Department Traffic Unit.
Nichols was driving a 2011 Honda Accord that crossed the center lane on Salisbury Highway and struck two vehicles about 7:17 p.m. on May 29, according to the SPD.
After sideswiping a 2011 Ford pickup truck, the Honda struck a 2018 GMC pickup truck head on, police said in a news release.
A passenger in the Honda Accord, identified as Chad Tyrone Kincaid 27, of Statesville, and a passenger in the GMC pickup, identified as Doris May Proefrock, 79, of Sherrills Ford, died as a result of the collision, according to the SPD.
