A Statesville man was ordered held without bond after being arrested and charged with 380 sex crimes involving a family member.
The Statesville Police Department announced the arrest of William Ray Clark, 52, in a news release Thursday.
The SPD Criminal Investigations Division began an investigation after receiving a report on February 7 about a possible sexual assault.
Investigators determined that a series of sexual assaults had occurred over a three-year period, according to the news release.
The Department of Social Services was contacted and assisted investigators with setting up an interview with the victim at Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center. Investigators also obtained a search warrant for the residence at 2166 Wexford Way, police said.
Based on evidence obtained during the search of the residence and statements from the victim and other witnesses, Clark was arrested and taken before Magistrate Nethken, who ordered the suspect held without bond.
Clark was charged with 74 counts of First-Degree Statutory Rape, 78 counts of Incest, 78 counts of Indecent Liberties, 74 counts of Sex Act by Substitute Parent, and 76 counts of Statutory Sex Offense with a Child by Adult
The SPD expressed its gratitude to DSS, the Dove House and community members for their assistance in this investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
