FROM STAFF REPORTS
A man wanted for outstanding criminal charges in Mecklenburg County and South Carolina was apprehended by Troutman police following a pursuit on Monday.
The TPD announced the arrest of Joshua Kyle Boulware, 41, of Gaston, S.C., in a news release Tuesday morning.
On Monday, TPD officers located a Toyota Rav 4 that had been reported stolen in York County, S.C., in the parking lot of the Dollar General store at 144 S. Main Street, according to the news release.
After officers pulled up behind the vehicle and activated their patrol vehicles’ blue lights, the driver — later identified as Boulware — pulled away and attempted to flee, police said.
Officers pursued the vehicle as it traveled south on U.S. Highway 21 into Mooresville with the pursuit ending behind a residence on Sherrill Street, according to the news release. Boulware then attempted to flee on foot, but was caught by TPD Sgt. Jamie Benge, police said.
Officers from the Mooresville Police Department and Iredell County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance to the TPD during the pursuit.
Boulware was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony speeding to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger, and driving while license revoked. Boulware was also served with an outstanding warrant from Mecklenburg County as well as a fugitive warrant related to charges in South Carolina.
Boulware is being held at the Iredell County Detention Center on a $50,500 secured bond.
