A Troutman Police Department officer escaped injury on Wednesday when his patrol vehicle was struck from behind.
According to a TPD news release, the officer was stopped in the turning lane waiting to turn onto Fanjoy Road from U.S. Highway 70, when his vehicle was hit from behind.
The TPD did not identify the officer, who was returning from a training course at the time of the accident.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital for possible injuries by Iredell County EMS personnel.
The TPD patrol vehicle sustained significant damage, according to the news release.
The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
