Two suspects in a June 2019 shooting that claimed the life of a Statesville man and injured his brother will spend more than 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to two felony charges in Iredell County Superior Court on Monday.

Azontay Vontazius Sherrill, 21, of Statesville and Quinton Queshon Kasey, 23, of Charlotte pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the June 19, 2019, shooting of brothers Marcus and Timothy Moore on Deaton Street in Statesville, according to the Statesville Police Department, which investigated the shooting.

Timothy Moore sustained life-threatening injuries and Marcus Moore died from his gunshot wound.

During Monday’s court appearance, Sherrill and Kasey were ordered to serve between 180 and 220 months in the custody of the N.C. Department of Corrections.

“The Statesville Police Department would like to thank the District Attorney’s Office for their work on the case and for bringing closure to this investigation,” the SPD said in a news release.
