Every year, with the community’s help, Fifth Street Ministries steps up to help those in need over the holidays. With a week to go before Thanksgiving, Executive Director Michele Knapp has put out a call for help to meet these neighbors’ needs.
“We are planning to give out 100 food boxes to the community to cook in their own home as well as cook a meal at the shelter for up to 200 people. We also partner with Meals on Wheels to provide a prepared Thanksgiving meal,” said Knapp.
The time crunch is real. Knapp asks that these donated items be dropped off at Fifth Street by Thursday, November 16, so they can start preparing.
Pressing needs are for turkeys, cranberry sauce, yams, boxed mashed potatoes, and ready-to-serve rolls. A few volunteer spaces are still available as well.
