Special to Iredell Free News

Get ready to indulge in an evening of music, craft brews, and barbecue delights! The highly anticipated Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival Presented by deBotech will take place on Saturday, September 16, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the newly renovated Liberty Park, located at 255 E. Iredell Avenue in Mooresville.

The aroma of slow cooked meats will fill the air as local restaurants and food trucks serve up the best barbecue they have to offer! The state of North Carolina is known for its “Carolina Style” barbecue and festivalgoers will get to put their tasting skills to the test as they vote for the “Best Barbecue” at the festival. The event will also feature competitive barbecue chef Kevin Peterson, who will demonstrate smoking an entire hog. Peterson has won multiple barbecue competitions, including the state championship for the Whole Hog Series sponsored by the North Carolina Pork Council.

Mooresville has received an influx of new breweries over the past few years with brewers such as Boondoggler’s and Jolly Roger moving into town. Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival attendees will have the opportunity to sample brews from local businesses while enjoying an adult gaming area located near the festival’s beer garden.

“It’s nice to see our brewery community growing in Mooresville and feels like things are coming together for our business,” said Mike Cuddy of Ghostface Brewing. “We’re excited to be a part of Mooresville’s 150th Anniversary and look forward to participating in the festival!”

The festival’s presenting sponsor deBotech Inc. has partnered with Ghostface Brewing to create two special anniversary brews for the event. The brews will be sold at various locations throughout the festival, with proceeds going to the Dale Jr. Foundation, which supports several local and national non-profit organizations.

Festival attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a line-up of bands during the event that promises to be a memorable experience. Multi-platinum recording artist Loverboy is the featured band. With hits like “Working for the Weekend,” “Turn Me Loose” and “When It’s Over,” you’ll be rocking to your favorite hits all night long.

Despite the festival’s name, there is plenty of fun for all ages. Attendees will enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities in the Family Fun Zone Presented by Weber USA as well as activities provided by supporting sponsor, J.R. Motorsports.

The festival is organized by the Arts & Events team for the Town of Mooresville’s Parks and Recreation Department as part of this year’s signature events to celebrate Mooresville’s 150th Anniversary. The Town of Mooresville has teamed up with deBotech, Inc., a Mooresville-based business who provides carbon fiber and advanced composite products. deBotech was founded in 1998 by Hans and Jamye deBot, who’ve taken the company from an idea in a small garage to 60,000-square-foot facility with more than 150 employees.

“It’s so incredible to think through the last 25 years and reminisce on the journey it’s been to get deBotech where it is today,” says Jamye deBot. “It wasn’t overnight by any means. It’s taken 25 years of hard work and determination, combined with the people on our team and the connections we’ve made. We’re so excited to partner with our beautiful Town of Mooresville as the title sponsor of the Bands, Brews and BBQ event; where we’ll celebrate not only our 25th Anniversary, but the town’s 150th as well!”

Admission to the event is free. A park-and-ride shuttle location will also be offered.
