Iredell-Statesville School officials recognized eight teachers who recently completed the National Board Certification process during Monday’s school board meeting.
“These teachers we are recognizing have spent numerous hours working through this certification process that measures the highest level of achievement in the education profession,” explained I-SS Executive Director of Human Resources LeVar Mizelle.
“They have reflected on the incorporation of best practices in teaching and are now equipped to be a frontrunner in ongoing school improvement,” he added.
The teachers are:
♦ Allison Blanton, The Brawley School;
♦ Kathryn Cogdell, Lake Norman High School;
♦ Amy Commer, Career Academy and Technical School;
♦ Shaley Holmes, East Iredell Elementary School;
♦ Andrew Link, Lakeshore Middle School;
♦ Clayton Moore, Sharon Elementary School,
♦ Katherine Moose, South Iredell High School; and
♦ Allison Wilson, Oakwood IB Middle School
South Iredell HIGH MCJROTC Drill Team honored
The school board recognized South Iredell Marine Corps JROTC drill team cadets for their regional championship. The team is headed to nationals in April.
The following cadets will attend nationals: Gavin Anzaldo, Aiden Barfield, Daniel Atwood, Joselin Camarillo, Kelijah Bridges, Sivani Carlson, Madelyn Buff, Natalie Chavez, Tristan Carlson, Dylan Conlin, Jadyn Dixon, Courtney Ezell, Samantha Harper, Michael Higginbothom, Katilin Huwe, Max LeMark, Peyton Johnson, Caleb Leon, Landon Kaiser, Daniel Ortiz, Terrance Mikell, Natalie Paquette, Jackson Miller, Zander Standish, Rubi Morales, Chelsea Peck, Autumn Smith, Gabriel Thompson, Tyler VanWormer, Abby Weddington, Thomas Sapp, Alvin Moore, Jullian Privette and Audrey Sapp.
The team finished second in the Armed Division, and first in the Unarmed Division with a first-place overall for the competition.
School Board chairman recognized
I-SS Superintendent Jeff James recognized school board chairman Bill Howell with a Certificate of Achievement for completing 101-200 cumulative hours of training during the previous academic year.
Each year, board members are recognized for their achievements through the N.C. School Board’s Association Academy of School Boardsmanship.
James said that there are different levels of achievement that start out when a board member earns 30 hours.
