A Union Grove man faces more than 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and other charges in Iredell County Superior Court.
Pierson Worth Colbert, 27, was arrested on November 18, 2019, in connection with the death of Robert John Quinn, 44, who suffered a fatal head injury during an altercation earlier that morning.
Quinn died from his injuries shortly after first responders arrived at 315 Indian Hill Road in Union Grove about 5 a.m.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office investigated Quinn’s death and arrested Colbert the same day. Assistant District Attorney Mikko Red Arrow was the prosecutor in the case.
Colbert pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by felon, felony larceny of motor vehicle and assault on a government official on Tuesday.
Following the defendant’s plea, Judge William Wood sentenced Colbert was sentenced to prison sentences of 276-344 months in prison, followed by sentences of 14-26 months, 8-19 months, and 150 days imprisonment. He also received a sentence of 6-17 months in prison at the expiration of those sentences for a probation violation.
A native of Rhode Island, Robert Quinn was remembered in his obituary as “a caring and giving person.” His interests included selling items at the flea market. Lettie, his pit bull was his pride and joy.
