Statesville native Shadrach Martin has been hired as principal of Success Institute Charter School.

Martin has extensive experience working in public schools, including work as a teacher assistant/bus driver, behavioral specialist, exceptional children’s teacher and administrator in Iredell-Statesville Schools.

In 2021, Martin was hired by Guilford County Schools, where he worked as a middle school administrator for a year before being promoted to a district administrator serving six middle schools in the High Point/ Greensboro area. In this role, he helped facilitate a Saturday academy leading into EOGs, worked to increase student exposure to the college environment, and provided logistical support for transportation, staffing, and resources for all of the schools.

He started mentoring programs in Iredell-Statesville Schools and Guilford County Schools called “A Few Good Men.”

Prior to beginning his career in education, Martin served as an engineer in the U.S. Marine Corps. 

Martin earned an associate degree from Mitchell Community College in 2010, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Liberty University. He is preparing to defend his dissertation at Liberty University for his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Special Education Curriculum Development.

“It is an honor to have him join the Success Institute Charter School team, as their new principal to grow the students and staff, water their potential, and support their success in education and life!” the school said in a news release.
