N.C. Rep. Grey Mills has officially launched his campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Mills, a Republican who currently represents the 95th District in the N.C. House, filed on Monday to run for the 10th District seat in the U.S. House. Congressman Patrick McHenry announced last week that he was retiring.
“Throughout my tenure in the North Carolina House, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with the members of our community to address their concerns and priorities,” Mills said in his official campaign announcement. “I am eager to expand this work on a larger scale, advocating for the needs of our district at the federal level.”
Campaign filing began on December 4 and ends at 12 noon on Friday, December 15. Mills is the third Republican to file for the 10th District seat.
In his campaign announcement, Mills touted his “track record of conservative leadership and a deep commitment to serving the people. If elected, he said he would focus on constituent services and helping residents navigate an overly complicated federal bureaucracy.
Mills is in the midst of his fourth term in the N.C. House. He served from 2008 to 2010 and returned to Raleigh in 2020. He cited his record championing legislation that fosters economic growth, low taxes, fiscal restraint and protecting the unborn. He is also an advocate for Second Amendment rights.
He pledged to “stand firmly dedicated to continuing the conservative leadership he fostered in the North Carolina General Assembly and carrying the common sense and cooperative approach to serving that will address the challenges facing the 10th District and the nation.”
The general election is scheduled for November 5, 2024. A primary is set for March 5.
