Dr. Shawn Walls has joined the practice at Piedmont HealthCare Davie Internal Medicine in Statesville. He will work alongside Dr. Tania Acevedo; Tanya Maxwell, DNP; Ishmael Hayfron, DNP; and Dinah Anukwuem, FNP.
“I chose to work at Davie Internal Medicine because the patients reminded me of home,” Walls explained.
Born and raised in a small town in West Virginia, Walls combined his interest in science and helping others to pursue a career the medical field. “I have spent the last several years working in a hospital and am looking to move into a more outpatient setting to better establish long-lasting and impactful relationships with my patients.”
Walls attended Marshall University, in Huntington, W.Va., for his undergraduate degree. He earned his medical degree at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, in Lewisburg, W.Va. Following medical school, Walls completed his residency in Osteopathic Internal Medicine at the University Hospital Richmond/Bedford Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
“I like to focus on preventative care with my patients,” Walls said. “The best care starts with the patient. The patients need to be fully involved in their care; otherwise, it is not going to work.”
Dr. Acevedo is excited to have Walls join the practice.
“On behalf of myself, the staff, and our patients we would like to welcome Dr. Shawn Walls to our group,” Acevedo said. “Here at Davie Internal Medicine, we are very fortunate to serve a wonderful group of patients. Many of them have been coming here for care for years. With Dr. Wall’s wide breadth of experience and philosophy of care, we are confident he will settle in seamlessly into the practice.”
Walls is a father of two boys and a Goldendoodle named Louie. The Walls family enjoys playing and watching soccer and basketball in their spare time.
