A Statesville man faces a felony drug possession charge after being stopped by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy for a traffic violation.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Regan Thomas Starkie, 29, of Fox Avenue Statesville, in a news release.
On August 14, Deputy E. Rhoney conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Salisbury Highway and Yellowstone Lane for a motor vehicle violation, Campbell said. After approaching the vehicle, the deputy spoke to Starkie, who was driving the vehicle, about the violation. During the course of the ensuing investigation, 14.04 grams of cocaine was located inside of the vehicle, according to the news release.
Starkie was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with possession of cocaine and two misdemeanor drug offenses. Magistrate T. Thompson issued a $5,000 unsecured bond.
