Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Randall Lee Moore, 33, of Cold Water Extension, Kannapolis, in a news release Monday.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report in October about a breaking and entering and larceny at a construction site at 401 Wiggins Wiggins Road, Campbell said.

Employees at the construction site reported someone had entered the construction site overnight and had stolen several tools and equipment, according to the news release.

The case was assigned to Detective K. Sherard with the Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.

As part of the investigation, surveillance equipment was placed at the construction site by the employees in case the suspect returned, the sheriff said.

Approximately one month later, on November 27, 2022, a second incident was reported at the construction site for another breaking and entering in which several items were stolen, along with the surveillance equipment that had installed, according to the news release.

During December, the construction employees discovered several trailers on the site had been broken into.

Detective Sherard was able to identify a suspect vehicle with the use of surveillance cameras. The suspect was observed in the surveillance footage driving a mid-2000s Ford Expedition that was towing an enclosed trailer. These images were posted on social media asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect.

Detective Sherard learned during his investigation that the enclosed trailer the suspect was towing in the surveillance footage had been stolen from Rowan County, according to the news release.

Detective Sherard obtained warrants charging Moore with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, eight counts of Felony Breaking and Entering of a Trailer, seven counts Felony Larceny, and Felony Larceny from a Construction Site.

With assistance of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, ICSO detectives executed a search warrant at Moore’s residence in Kannapolis. During the search of the residence, detectives located some of the stolen items from the construction site, Campbell said.

On Monday, January 30, Moore was located in Rowan County and served with the outstanding warrants at the Rowan County Detention Center. Rowan County Magistrate L. Beattie issued a $15,000 secured bond.

According to the ICSO, Moore’s criminal history includes the following charges: Misdemeanor Larceny, Improper Equipment, Driving While Impaired, Operate Vehicle no Insurance, Misdemeanor Littering, Misdemeanor Possession Unfortified Wine, Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Consume Alcohol by less than 19, and Misdemeanor Resisting Public Officer.
