FROM STAFF REPORTS
A Troutman man faces felony drug charges after being stopped by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy for a registration violation.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Curtis Bishop Bryant, 41, of West Avenue, Troutman, in a news release.
Deputy G. Wiedenmann, who is assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, stopped a Honda Accord operated by Bryant on Amity Hill Road at Starlight Road on July 4.
While speaking with Bryant, Deputy Wiedenmann became suspicious of criminal activity occurring, the sheriff said.
After Sgt. E. Line and K-9 Wilbur responded to the scene to assist, Wilbur walked around the exterior of Bryant’s vehicle and gave a positive indication for the odor of a narcotic, according to the news release.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies found cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Bryant was placed under arrest and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Thompson issued a $3,500 secured bond on the charges of felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor drug offense.
