Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell on Friday announced that 22 drug offenders had been arrested during the ICSO’s latest roundup.
The arrests stem from investigations conducted in late 2022 and early 2023.
The majority of these suspects have significant criminal histories. Ten of these suspects were on probation at the time of arrest, and two are verified gang members. All of these suspects were directly involved in the sale of or facilitating the sale of narcotics to an undercover investigator, according to an ICSO news release.
“By continuing to target those criminals who break our laws and sell these illegal drugs in our communities, we are able to drive down crime rates, reduce breaking and entering, robberies, and other types of violent crimes which are associated with drug dealing,” Campbell said. “We want to create a very unprofitable environment for drug dealers to try and conduct their business.
Residents played a vital role in these investigations, according to the sheriff.
“We want to thank the community for the continuous information which is provided about drug-related issues,” Campbell said. “We hear you. We are investigating and are making arrests based on your information and tips”.
