Two suspects face felony drug charges after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies seized crystal methamphetamine, heroin and other illegal narcotics during a traffic stop.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Misty Elaine Griffin, 40, of Earp Lane, Hiddenite, and Jeremy Franklin Long, 44, of East Lackey Farm Road, Stony Point, in a news release Thursday.

When Sgt. N. Hodges attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Taylorsville Highway for a traffic violation on Tuesday, April 11, he observed the passenger throw something from the vehicle, Campbell said.

During the course of the ensuing traffic stop, deputies located numerous items of drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle along with 1.24 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 1 gram of heroin from Griffin’s person, according to the news release.

Deputies also located the item thrown from the vehicle, which was a box containing 4.8 grams of heroin, 9.44 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 1.04 grams of fentanyl, 18 dosage units of oxycodone, and 8 dosage units of clonazepam, Campbell said.

Griffin is charged with two counts of felony trafficking heroin, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule IV controlled substance, misdemeanor reckless driving to endanger and a misdemeanor drug offense. She is currently on probation for Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Long is charged with two counts of felony trafficking heroin, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and a misdemeanor drug offense.

Both suspects were transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.

Magistrate S. Nicholson set Griffin’s bond at $100,000. Long received a $150,000 secured bond.
