A Statesville man is charged with sexually assaulting a woman he lured to the campus of Northview Academy early Wednesday morning.
The Statesville Police Department announced the arrest of Triston Dionte Perrin, 29, of Carolina Circle, Statesville, in a news release Friday.
The SPD began investigating after officers responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred at Northview Academy, which is located at 625 Carolina Avenue N in Statesville. During the investigation, detectives identified Perrin as the suspect.
According to police, Perrin initiated contact with the victim online and arranged a meeting at the school at 3 a.m. Both the victim and the suspect are adults with no affiliation to the school, according to the news release.
The victim, who was not familiar with the area, arrived at the school in her vehicle while maintaining a phone conversation with the suspect, police said.
The suspect then arrived at the school and met the victim in the outside picnic area, where the assault took place, police said. Aside from the suspect selecting it as a meeting location, there is no association between the incident and Northview Academy, according to the SPD.
Perrin was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony second-degree forcible rape, felony assault by strangulation, felony first-degree kidnapping, two counts of felony attempted second-degree forcible sex offense and misdemeanor assault on a female
He was issued an $850,000 bond. He also received an additional $3,000 bond for an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear.
