SPD: Third suspect in Goldsboro Avenue homicide apprehended in West Virginia

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with a March 15 shooting in which a Statesville man was killed and a teen critically injured.

The Statesville Police Department announced the arrest of Javis Black, 22, in a news release. He is charged with murder in the death of Zion S. Wilder, 19, and attempted murder in the wounding of a 15-year-old in a Goldsboro Avenue residence.

Black was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal Service, with the assistance of Carolinas Regional Task Force, in Beckley, W.Va., on Tuesday during the execution of a search warrant, police said.

All three suspects in the shooting are now in custody.

The SPD expressed its appreciation to U.S. Marshal Service and Carolinas Regional Task Force for their efforts to apprehend Black.
