The Statesville Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a home on Oakhurst Avenue early Thursday morning.

The Statesville Fire Department was dispatched to the scene shortly before 5 a.m. After arriving, SFD found no visible smoke or flames from the exterior.

After entering the home, firefighters discovered smoke coming from the basement. When they entered the basement, they encountered heat and flames.

The fire was under control less than 20 minutes after SFD personnel arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported.
