The Troutman Police Department and N.C. State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a double shooting that occurred on Mills Avenue on Saturday evening.
One victim was transported to a regional trauma center for medical treatment, and the second victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a TPD news release.
Officers responded to the parking lot of the Food Lion at 520 N. Main Street around 8:25 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report about two people suffering from gunshot wounds at that location.
After arriving at the scene, officers spoke with one of the victims and learned that the shooting occurred at another location in Troutman, according to the news release. The shooting victims traveled to the Food Lion in a vehicle, police said.
Officers located the scene of the shooting on Mills Avenue in Troutman after receiving additional information from the shooting victim.
The TPD is withholding information about the victims until notification of next of kin.
