Special to Iredell Free News
You and your co-workers are invited to volunteer at the upcoming Free OTC Medicine Giveaway event on October 12-13 at the Statesville Civic Center.
The Free OTC Medicine Giveaway is a program created by North Carolina non-profit NC MedAssist. This program provides free over-the-counter medicine to adults and children who are low-income and in need of items like COVID-19 testing kits, aspirin, children’s cough syrup, allergy medicine, digestive medicine, vitamins and more.
To bring this community health event to Iredell County, NC MedAssist collaborated with several local partners who are dedicated to making sure residents of Iredell County stay healthy by providing these much-needed items at no charge.
Organizers need around 125 volunteers to help perform a variety of tasks such as:
♦ Participant Registration & Check-In;
♦ Medication Hand Out;
♦ Parking Assistance; and
♦ Event setup and clean up.
There is also a need for Medicine Consultant Volunteers who have medical training – such as RNs, pharmacists and physicians – who can help registrants understand different types of medicine and answer questions pertaining to them. (This role requires volunteers to be at least 18 years of age).
